The program involved
the renovation of this 29,000 s.f. skilled nursing facility and adding
5,000 s.f. of additions. Built in the 1960’s, this facility did not
comply with present codes and was overcrowded with 120 beds. As an initial
step, the facility was planned to be reduced to 90 beds, eliminating the
overcrowded non-conformity. The modifications affected nursing stations
and support spaces, re-configuring bedrooms and bathrooms, among other
changes to comply with present codes.
The large center addition has a new entry, offices, occupational therapy
room, dining room with patio, and a chapel. The 2 smaller wing additions
contain recreation rooms and patios. Ultimately, this skilled nursing facility
has been transformed into a health center which responds to the needs of
the patients.
