“Green Homes - Dwellings for the 21st Century” by E. Ashley Rooney features “Carlin Hill Farm” in Connecticut, designed by George Fellner.  This house includes numerous sustainable strategies including optimum site orientation, maximizing pervious surfaces, passive solar sunspace, geothermal heating and cooling system, natural ventilation, day lighting, material re-use, high efficiency wood fireplace, high efficiency appliances, compact fluorescent lighting, and solar site lighting.  The book was released during the summer of 2008.

AIA 2008 National Convention
and Design Exposition

George Fellner was recently a speaker at the AIA 2008 National Convention and Design Exposition held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, May 15-17, 2008.  He presented his program: “Geothermal Systems:  An Alternative Strategy for Sustainability.”  He also attended a series of other presentations on sustainable design.

Shingle Style Architecture for the 21st Century

George Fellner wrote the Foreword "Shingle Style Revival as Timeless Architecture" for the upcoming book by E. Ashley Rooney. His design for "Fusion: Modern Shingle Style and Lakefront Vernacular" is also featured in this book, expected in the bookstores during the summer of 2010.

 

Mercy Center, Madison, CT

Fellner Associates Architects has been hired by the Sisters of Mercy to design the modifications and renovations to the Mercy Center, a Spiritual Retreat and Conference Center. The beautiful 40 acre site affronts Long Island Sound.

 

Earth Sheltered House, East Haddam, CT

FAA has been hired to design a new Earth Sheltered House in a rural section of Connecticut. This house will feature numerous sustainable strategies.

 

2010 Design & Trades Conference

George Fellner was recently a speaker at the 2010 Design & Trades Conference sponsored by the State of Connecticut at the Naugatuck Valley Community College, March 18, 2010. He presented his program: "Green Homes Optimization: Diversity in Sustainable Strategies."
