Dwellings for the 21st Century

“Green Homes - Dwellings for the 21st Century” by E. Ashley Rooney features “Carlin Hill Farm” in Connecticut, designed by George Fellner.  This house includes numerous sustainable strategies including optimum site orientation, maximizing pervious surfaces, passive solar sunspace, geothermal heating and cooling system, natural ventilation, day lighting, material re-use, high efficiency wood fireplace, high efficiency appliances, compact fluorescent lighting, and solar site lighting.  The book was released during the summer of 2008.

AIA 2008 National Convention
and Design Exposition

George Fellner was a speaker at the AIA 2008 National Convention and Design Exposition held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, May 15-17, 2008.  He presented his program: “Geothermal Systems:  An Alternative Strategy for Sustainability.”  He also attended a series of other presentations on sustainable design.

Shingle Style Architecture for the 21st Century

George Fellner wrote the Foreword "Shingle Style Revival as Timeless Architecture" for the book by E. Ashley Rooney. His design for "Fusion: Modern Shingle Style and Lakefront Vernacular" is also featured in this book. The book was released during the fall of 2010.

Sustainable Design Course at the University of Hartford

George Fellner is teaching as an Adjunct Instructor for the School of Architecture at the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture.

East Haddam Village

Fellner Associates Architects has been working with the Town of East Haddam, designing a new mixed-use village center.

East Haddam Brewery

Fellner Associates Architects is designing a new brewery in East Haddam, renovating a 19th century mill building.

Mercy Center, Madison, CT

Fellner Associates Architects has been hired by the Sisters of Mercy to design the modifications and renovations to the Mercy Center, a Spiritual Retreat and Conference Center. The beautiful 40 acre site affronts Long Island Sound. Construction is expected to commence in 2011.

Earth Sheltered House, East Haddam, CT

FAA has designed a new Earth Sheltered House in a rural section of Connecticut. This house will feature numerous sustainable strategies. Construction is expected to commence in 2011.

Imaginary Realms Photography Exhibit at EO Art Lab

George Fellner is the featured artist for a solo exhibition of works at EO Art Lab in Chester, CT. Opening Reception/Artist Talk on Feb 4, 2011, 6-9pm. The shows runs through March 27.

Design & Trades Conference 2011

George Fellner will be presenting: Earth-Sheltered Residential Design as part of the Sustainable Homes & Sites program at the Design & Trades Conference 2011 sponsored by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Safety and Office of Education & Data Management at Naugatuck Valley Community College, 750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT, Tuesday, March 15, 2011.
